MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE MAYORS CLIMATE PROTECTION AGREEMENT TASK
FORCE (MCPATF)
BOZEMAN, MONTANA
August 29, 2007
The MCPATF met in the small conference room at the Bozeman Public Library 626 E Main Street, on
Wednesday, August 29th, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. Present were Scott Bischke, Brit Fontenot, Pat McGowen,
Collin Moore, Peter Belschwender, Martin Knight, Molly Cross, Greg Pederson, Matt Madden, Joan
Diamond, Otto Pohl, Dean Williamson, David Boggeman, Mel Kotur, Mark Johnson, Mayor Jeff Krauss,
and staff liaison Hattie Baker
All task force members were presented with a binder and CD providing information regarding
climate change and task force member list.
Hattie Baker shared information on baseline emissions inventory data for municipal operations.
Discussed ICLEI’s 5 milestones
Changed task force name to Climate Protection Task Force
Mission: A commitment to reduce CO2 emissions to 15% below 2000 levels by 2020
Vision: Building healthy communities through reduction of CO2
Established meeting parameters
¾ If a member misses 3 meetings total the group will review membership
¾ Members will meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the small conference
room library. Hattie Baker will check on conference call capabilities in room.
¾ A draft agenda will be made at the end of each meeting for the next meeting
¾ Group will discuss changes to all decisions and will adjust as decided
¾ Input from public will be welcomed only through solicitation by task force members
Chair and Vice‐Chair: TBD
Secretary: Greg Boggeman will ask the Citizens Concerned for Climate Change (CCCC) if they are able
to provide a secretary to take the minute
Hattie Baker will contact ICLEI for task force guidelines and contact other Bozeman task forces
Bozeman has joined the National Conversation on Climate Change Oct 4, 2007
¾ Scientists on task force were asked to consider giving a presentation
¾ A sample agenda will be given to members for the day’s events
¾ Hattie Baker will contact the Museum of the Rockies to discuss event
Bozeman is participating in the Energy Star Challenge: Change a light Change the World Oct 3rd
¾ Encourages community to switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL’s)
Task Force was divided into 3 sub groups. The subgroups will meet at a time they decide.
