HomeMy WebLinkAboutAppointments to the Mayors' Community Climate Task Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Natalie Mayer, Climate Protection Coordinator Chris Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT Recommendations for appointments to the Mayors’ Community Climate Task Force (MCCTF) MEETING DATE: October 12, 2009 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action RECOMM ENDATION: Make appointments to fill up to fifteen vacancies for the Mayors’ Community Climate Task Force (MCCTF). BACKGROUND: The Mayor’s Community Climate Task Force was created under the Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement signed on November 27, 2006 to establish a Climate Action Plan for the City of Bozeman. Based on the contract with Hattie Baker, Sustainability Consultant, the Task Force will consist of the following organizations to be appointed by the City Commission. Vacancies were communicated through the City of Bozeman website and Public Service Announcements. In addition, emails and letters were sent to all of the organizations requesting participation. 1. Appointment of a fifteen (15) member Mayor’s Community Climate Task Force consist of the following categories: · City of Bozeman · Neighborhood Organizations · Bozeman Public School System · Montana State University · Gallatin County · South West Montana Building Industry Association (SWMBIA) · US Green Building Council (USGBC) · Bozeman Deaconess Hospital · Chamber of Commerce · Northwestern Energy · Streamline Transportation · Downtown Business Partnership · Citizen-at-large (3) These applicants are qualified to fill the following vacancies based on relevant experience. All categories, except for the Chamber of Commerce received one application. The Community Climate Task Force will be appointed to a one-year term. The MCCTF will dissolve at the expiration of the term. The majority of expenses associated with the development of the Community Climate Action Plan will be funded through the MCPA grant. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
