HomeMy WebLinkAbout8-19-09 Downtown Business Improvement District Minutes Downtown Business Improvement District Board Meeting Minutes 8/19/09 Due to a lack of action items requiring the decision of the board, the August meeting of the Downtown Business Improvement District has been cancelled. This cancellation was unanimously approved by the BID Board. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. Executive Director’s Report Downtown Business Improvement District Board August 19, 2009 Downtown Disaster Update Recent “activity” includes: ? The Downtown Relief Fund will be making its final disbursement on August 21, 2009. 546 donations were made to the Fund for approximately $191,634. Just over 90 individual recipients received 385 payments. A final accounting report will be completed in September. Downtown Improvement Plan The LMN consulting team has delivered their final draft of the Downtown Improvement Plan. This draft will go twice before both the Planning Board and the City Commission. Both reviews will involve proper public notice and provide opportunity for public comment. The final draft will also be noticed to the downtown e-mail list serve (400+ recipients) and announced in the Downtown Newspaper (4800 copies) and E-Newsletter (300+ recipients). Chris will also be contacting the stakeholders (37 individuals) interviewed during the development of the Plan to ask for their comments on the final draft. City of Bozeman Review and Adoption Timeline August 19 Application submitted to Planning Department September 15 Planning Board hearing (1 of 2) October 5 City Commission Resolution of Intent to Adopt October 6 Planning Board hearing (2 of 2) November 9 City Commission Public Hearing for Adoption Parking Garage Update Recent “activity” includes: ? Interior painting completed on all cinder block walls ? Northwestern Energy replaced all of the gas distribution lines in the alley th ? COB plans to pave the alley week of August 24. Downtown Bozeman Gas Refurbishment Project Due to recently available funding, NorthWestern has committed to performing a significant amount of gas system upgrades that were planned to take place over the next few years. Work will include: replacing all distribution lines; installing three zone valves; installing stopper valves; removing swing joints; and removing old stubs. All of this work was scheduled to take place in phases over the next 3 years, but due to the cancellation of another project in the state, Northwestern is investing the funding in downtown Bozeman to complete the work this season. rd The project area spans from 3 to Bozeman Avenues north of Main Street and from Willson to Rouse Avenues south of Main Street. The work is scheduled to be completed by October 23, 2009. This target completion date is dependent on weather and unforeseen sub-surface conditions. Over-street Cable Engineering Report Rick Kerin, Kerin & Associates, performed the preliminary assessment of the over-street cables and anchor systems several years ago. He will be providing the BID with copies of the report by the end of August. The board will review and discuss the report at the September meeting.
