Commission Memorandum
REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: Chris Kukulski, City Manager
Andy Epple, Director of Planning
SUBJECT: Soroptomist Park Declaration – Commission Resolution No. 4178
MEETING DATE: July 6, 2009
BACKGROUND: Soroptomist Park was not dedicated to the public through a subdivision platting
process. Earlier this year the Commission expressed an interest in formally declaring Soroptomist Park
public parkland as a means of conferring upon it status similar to that enjoyed by dedicated parks.
Resolution 4178 would do so, verifying its status as public parkland and putting future Commissions and
members of the public on notice that it is the expressed will of the current Commission that Soroptomist
Park be maintained and managed as a public park in perpetuity.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Commission adopt Resolution No. 4178.
FISCAL EFFECTS: None identified.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
Please contact Ron Dingman, Parks and Recreation Director, with any questions regarding this
recommended action.
