Public Comment:
Mary Jaurdull on behalf of FORParks and the Dinosaur Regional Park spoke to raise
awareness for the park, and to encourage donations and volunteer work.
Sandy and Louis McCarl from East Cottonwood Street expressed a need to exercise their dogs off leash.
Also they mentioned every Fourth of July the park is trashed with litter and the fireworks scare their
dogs.
A number of citizens expressed views during public comment on this issue. Sean Farris from East
College opposed a trail corridor and thought the money should be used to maintain other trails. Caron
Barton said she favored the trail connection. Kevin Nielson thought the land should remain as is for a
bird sanctuary. Amy Hubbard thought the trail would bring congestion to the area. Jerry Gossel was
concerned about mid-block crossings and safely providing connectivity. Other citizens expressed
interest in creating the trail corridor.
Bike Board Report:
Bob Wade mentioned that Bike to Work Week is coming up May 11-15. Bob also
talked about an enterprise called the Bike Kitchen, where low cost and free mechanical help is available
for bike repairs. The Bike Kitchen is located at 425 East Aspen and open 6-8 pm Tuesday. The Bike
Kitchen accepts parts, time, and cash.
Mayor's Report:
The mayor was not present, as she was attending a mayoral function.
Gallatin Valley Land Trust:
Gary Vodehnal presented the connector trail on East College. The trail
would exist on a public right-of-way. The trail would be part of the City's "Main Street to the
Mountains" trail system. GVLT also stated that they would place a standard totem with "Main Street to
the Mountains" on the sign and directional indications. A motion was made by David Cook to
recommend that the city commission carry through with the trail as specified by GVLT. The motion
passed unanimously.
Parks Division Report :
Thom White asked for representatives from the board to look into Community
Transportation Enhancement Projects (CTEP) grants. Betty Stroock and Ada Montague volunteered.
