This is important for making our plan possible!

5. City of Bozeman is receiving several hundred thousand in Stimulus dollars. Do we want to write
a letter to the Commission and Debbie Arkell asking/urging that part of it be spent for bike related
projects? The newspaper article I saw didn’t mention any.
In Helena, "Helena's put in for $1 million in bike/ped trail improvements. The money would be used
for the Centennial Trail, which will be the east-west backbone of the non-motorized network (which
was basically planned out by the city and county in 2004).”
th
“Shovel-ready” options for Bozeman (there isn’t much!): Design $ for re-doing 8? (e.g. per
Transportation Plan recommendations.) Add to the CTEP fund for the multi-use path along College?
Joe Gilpin wants to pursue a new Fowler connection to the Bozeman Ponds and the Mall. A minor
th
project could be island repair and bike-lane striping on Kagy between Willson and 7. We could also
ask for purchase of bike route signs ($100/sign). We can ask the city to consider these options for
their $, or to go to the state to ask for stimulus transportation funds (share the CTEP bonus $ more
broadly than the 3 projects planned for the state). From talking to Joe and John Vandelinder, these
are really the only things bike related that might qualify, as I understand it.
6. Alliance for Biking & Walking training webinars – for example: How Interns Can Work for You,
April 30; Media Relations, May 28; the Power of Partnerships, July 23
7. Bicycle safety and “why bike” tip cards (see Molly’s email of 3/17) – We need a subcommittee to
get these together. Volunteers?
8. Complete Streets policy bill in Congress – letters to Tester, Baucus and Rehberg?
9. Status Reports and Announcements:
Status of working with Police for their bike auction? Communication with Sean Becker, and Lt.
McLane?
Report from TCC? We need to get our own copy (or two or three?) of the Transportation Plan, if
it’s finalized.
Legislative updates anyone? Red light cameras? Stop sign bike through?
Grant proposal from Western Transportation Institute to support a Bozeman “Smart Trips”
program – stay tuned
Letter of thanks to city streets staff for snow removal on Durston.
10. Bike to Work week details – status of assignments
Deadline for having all the details ready for the poster?
