Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Cemetery Advisory Board (Re)Appointments MEETING DATE: February 4, 2008 RECOMMENDATION: (Re)appoint members to the Cemetery Advisory Board. BACKGROUND: On January 28, 2008, the Commission reappointed two members to the Cemetery Advisory Board whose terms had expired on December 31, 2007, but left vacant the third term that had expired. This board is comprised of five members, serving staggered three-year terms. A majority of the members shall be residents of the City, and one member shall be a representative of an active recognized veteran’s group. Because of the required composition of the board (majority being City residents), and the fact that two currently serving members were County residents, any three (re)appointed members on January 28, 2008 had to be City residents. On January 31, 2008, Carl Craft, a County resident member of the board, offered his letter of resignation, which opened up a County resident member position. Currently this board has three members: one County resident member (Don Derby), who is the veterans’ representative; and two City resident members (newly reappointed Katherine Ball and Betsy Fordyce). Therefore, there are currently two vacancies and three applicants, and it is possible to (re)appoint both a County resident member and a City resident member.
