Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: (Re)Appointments to the Beautification Advisory Board MEETING DATE: June 23, 2008 RECOMMENDATION: (Re)appoint three members to the Beautification Advisory Board for new terms starting on July 1, 2008. BACKGROUND: There are four terms on the Beautification Advisory Board that will expire on June 30, 2008 (and one vacant term that will expire on June 30, 2009), and there are three applicants who are reapplying to fill these new terms that will start on July 1, 2008. The Beautification Advisory Board is created under Ordinance No. 1360, Chapter 2.84, Bozeman Municipal Code. The board is to consist of up to nine members, to be appointed to staggered three-year terms. Persons must be of legal age. A majority of the members must be residents of the city; and non- resident members shall “have some interest in the city by virtue of working in the city, owning property in the city, or entering the city frequently for any lawful purpose.” The board is to identify, investigate, and recommend community beautification projects and programs; investigate and pursue possible funding sources for beautification projects, in coordination with City staff; and advise the Commission concerning beautification of City-owned properties and facilities. The Beautification Advisory Board has five vacancies and three applicants.
