HomeMy WebLinkAboutRevised Contract for Law Enforcement Impact Fees Report compiled on July 8, 2008 Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Andrew Epple, Planning Director Chris Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Revised Contract for Law Enforcement Impact Fees MEETING DATE: Monday, July 14, 2008 RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to sign the contract revision. BACKGROUND: In November 2007, the City Commission authorized a contract to prepare a study examining a law enforcement impact fee. The original term of the contract was to expire 270 days after contract execution. This is August 20, 2008. The City has been in discussion with Gallatin County regarding the siting of the expanded police facility. This discussion has taken longer than expected. The decision on location has a significant effect on the elements included in the calculation of a potential impact fee. Therefore, it is desirable to extend the contract time to allow the completion of the discussion with the County and subsequent work by the contractor. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: Does the Commission wish to extend the contract time. FISCAL EFFECTS: None. The contract has already been funded in a prior fiscal year. The change in time does not impact the contract amount. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. CONTACT: Please contact Chris Saunders at csaunders@bozeman.net or 582-2260 if you have questions on this item.
