SUBJECT: Bozeman Area Bicycle Advisory Board (BABAB) (Re)Appointments
MEETING DATE: December 15, 2008 RECOMMENDATION: (Re)Appoint four members to the BABAB that expire December 31,
2008 and appoint one new member to the BABAB.
BACKGROUND: Four terms on the BABAB expire on December 31, 2008. These members would like to be re-appointed for an additional two years. Two other members are resigning on
December 31, 2008. One new applicant has applied for appointment. The BABAB has
recommended the applicant’s appointment.
The Bozeman Area Bicycle Advisory Board (BABAB) was created by the City Commission in
September 1990 (Resolution No. 2817). Its purpose is to recommend safe bicycle practices throughout Bozeman in regard to enhanced bicycle circulation and design, community-wide bicycle education and safety programs, and other matters relating to bicycling in the Bozeman area.
As amended by Ordinance 1594, Chapter 2.98 in April 2003, the board shall consist of up to nine
members who will serve two year staggered terms. Each member may be reappointed without any limitation on the number of reappointments. Persons must be of legal age.
A majority of the board shall be residents of the city. Non-resident members of the board shall have
some interest in the city by virtue of working in the city, owning property in the city, or entering the
city frequently for any lawful purpose. In addition, the members should be knowledgeable of
bicycling and/or traffic safety in the Bozeman area.
