HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-4-09 Senior Citizens Advisory Board Minutes
I have a reasonable draft of minutes for our meeting today, Wednesday, Feb 4 given below. I know that
there were a good number of details discussed that I did not include. They were mostly related to
changes in wording or events related to Older Americans Week. These will be picked up in the new
agenda to be prepared later in February. I certainly appreciate the contributions you all have been
making during our meetings.

Minutes of the meeting held February 4, 2009
of Bozeman Senior Citizens' Advisory Board follow.
All members were present: Ken Tiahrt, Milly Gutkowski, Charlotte Kress, Ted Mangun, Patty Phillips, Don
Pierre, and Eric Bryson.
Meeting convened at 1 pm.
Agenda items.
Item 1
. Public Comment – none.
Item 2
. Self Introduction of Board Members to start a new year with new board members.
Item 3.
“Older Americans Week in Bozeman” plans for May 17-23, 2009 were updated. New
draft plans will be prepared as soon as meetings with the health folks, the library staff, and senior
living facilities managers have been held.
Having a proclamation of Older Americans week by the Gallatin county commissioners as well
as the mayor of Bozeman, will be sought. We will also look into having a main street banner
hung, similar to that of Sweet Pea and other local events.
Overall, the planning is moving along very well and we expect it to be in place by early March.
Item 4
. Identifying a day and time for meetings during 2009. Meetings will continue to be on
the first Wednesday of the month and will start at 1:15, ending at 2:15. From time to time, a
meeting may be moved due to other conflicts.
Item 5
. Identification of Board Officers. For 2009, Ken Tiahrt will continue as chairperson. He
will also prepare draft minutes based on the agenda items and any action taken.
Item 6
. Old business, Ron Dingman, will be invited to a meeting, possibly in June to discuss
priorities for city parks and Senior Citizen uses.
Item 7.
Old business. Don Pierre gave a report on the ongoing project to replace the Senior
Center Building (City owned) dining room floor. The Senior Center has made significant
progress in raising funds for the estimated $45,000 floor. Roughly, $16,000 has been raised at
this point, and the Southwest Montana Builders Association has offered to provide a great deal of
volunteer labor and some materials as well. Eric Bryson recalled that some funds had been
specified in the 2010 city budget to supplement those raised by the Senior Center. This report
was accepted without any action.
Meeting adjourned at 2 pm.
