A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, ESTABLISHING SOLID WASTE COLLECTION FEES WITHIN THE
CITY OF BOZEMAN.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Bozeman did adopt Ordinance No. 1493 on the
17`x' day of May 1.999, providing for the billing of solid waste collection fees on a monthly basis;
and
WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 1493 provides for the setting of fees by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Bozeman City Commission did regularly pass Commission Resolution No.
3927 on the 26th day of June 2006, which Resolution established a revised solid waste collection
fee schedule; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman continues to incur additional costs in its operation of the
collection and disposal of solid waste.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman,
Montana:
Section 1
To defray the estimated cost and expense of collecting and disposing of solid waste in the
City of Bozeman, there is hereby established a schedule of fees to be levied upon all users of the
City's solid waste collection system and those not served by a licensed private solid waste
collection service, as set forth in Schedule A, attached hereto, and by this reference made a part
hereof.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana at a
regular session thereof held on the 23rd day of June 2008.

For those accounts on the automated collection system, the maximum fees shall be as

Dumpster rental fee for special services (not on a regular monthly account): $1.00 per day.
Whenever specialty materials, such as tires, building materials, or scrap metal, or any
combination thereof, exceed 50 percent of a dumpster's contents, then the per cubic yard
dumpster capacity dollar amount shall be increased in accordance with the specialty material
landfill fees established by the Gallatin Solid Waste Management District.

For those accounts on the roll-off container collection system, the maximum fees shall

SUBJECT: CONSENT: Ratification of Commission Resolution 4108, Revising the
Solid Waste Collection Fees For Fiscal Year 2009 and Fiscal Year 2010
MEETING DATE: July 14, 2008
RECOMMENDATION: That the City Adopt the Following Fee Schedule, developed in
accordance with Commission action approving Resolution No. 4108 an June 23, 2008.
BACKGROUND: During the public hearing the Commission adopted Resolution No. 4108,
with the amendment that 35 Gallon Tote prices do not increase in FY09 & FY10, and that the
associated lost revenue be spread among the other tote prices "as staff saw fit."
We have developed the attached fee schedule, which spreads the lost revenue based on volume
and customer count for each of the remaining tote sizes. This results in the 3S Gallon tote prices
not increasing and total revenue collected by the Solid Waste Division unchanged from the
original proposed rate structure.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The City will collect an estimated 9% more in Solid Waste revenues in
FY09 and an additional 5% more in FY10. These increases affect commercial accounts and
residential accounts, with the break-down among residential accounts as follows:
