A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN, MONTANA, INDICATING THE CITY OF BOZEMAN'S
WILLINGNESS TO ACCEPT PRESERVE AMERICA FUNDING IF
AWARDED AND FURTHER INDICATING SUPPORT FOR PROJECTS
WITHIN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN AWARDED FUNDING.
WHEREAS, through the listing of eight Historic Districts and 50 Individual properties on
the National Register of Historic Places, as well as creation of a. Neighborhood Conservation Overlay
District, the intent and purpose of which is to stimulate the restoration and rehabilitation of structures,
and all other elements contributing to the character and fabric of established residential neighborhoods
and commercial or industrial areas, the citizens of the City of Bozeman have indicated their
commitment to preserving their historic and cultural resources; and,
WHEREAS, in order to enable the City of Bozeman. and all other preservation-minded
organizations in the community to seek Preserve America funding for projects, Bozeman Historic
Preservation Advisory Board has applied for Freservc America designation; and,
WHEREAS, all Preserve America grant applications require a resolution af~suppart -from the
local government entity; and, - _ _..
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman, through its past actions and Bozeman~..1V~!'L~~ip~] 1~ode,
Unified Development Ordinance, Design Guidelines for Historic Districts and the ~Ncighbarhood
Conservation Overlay District and Tax Abatement for Historic Preservation, has indicated a commitment
to historic preservation; and,
WHERAS, the property owners of the City of Bozeman, through their thoughtful and careful
ownership and care of their historic resources, have indicated acommunity-wide commitment to historic
preservation; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman believes it to be in the best interest of both. the City and the
community members of Bozeman to encourage applications for, and granting of, Preserve America
funding for a broad number of diverse research, documentation, and historic preservation planning
projects within the Bozeman community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozcman,
Montana that the City of Bozeman is willing to accept Preserve America funding for any worthy project
within the City of Bozeman and further supports the efforts of community members to pursue Preserve
America funding in order to preserve Bozeman's historic and cultural resources.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, at a
regular session thereof held on the 23`a day of June, 2008.
