HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2503 Establishing an energy conservation CIP fund ~, ----- .r COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 2503 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, ESTABLISHING AN ENERGY CONSERVATION CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FUND FOR THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA. WHEREAS, the City Commission has adopted an energy conservation policy in Commission Resolution No. 2273; and WHEREAS, some energy conservation projects have been undertaken by the City; and WHEREAS, a source of funding is the life blood of any future energy conservation projects; and WHEREAS, each year certain funds are budgeted for energy use; and WHEREAS, these funds, so budgeted, are not always expended: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA: Section 1 That not later than the first of June of each year the staff shall submit to the City Manager an estimate (by building or use) of the difference between the budgeted funds for energy and those funds to be expended for the fiscal year coming to a close. The staff shall also submit a list of proposed energy conservation capital improvement projects. Section 2 That by the second Commission meeting in June said estimate together with a general statement of condition of the operating budget for that fiscal year shall be submitted to the City Commission. Section 3 That prior to the end of the fiscal year (June 30) the City Commission shall determine what portion of the estimated unexpended funds as determined in Section 1 ...,.... -'-~ --'----. " ,- .--- ., should be set aside for future energy conservation capital improvement projects. The City Commission shall then, by minute entry, authorize transfer of those funds to the Energy Conservation Capital Improvement Projects Fund. Section 4 That for the purpose of implementation of this resolution the City Commission hereby authorizes and directs the Director of Finance to establish and maintain a fund to be known as the Energy Conservation Capital Improvement Projects fund. Section 5 That special attention be given to the conservation of electricity in light of possible large rate increases. Section 6 That a report be given to the City Commission of low-cost steps which can be taken to conserve energy, as a complementary program to the capital-/labor-intensive . conservation measures suggested for the Energy Conservation !! Capital Improvement Project Fund. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, at a regular and stated session of said City Commission, held on the 4th day of June 1984.
