HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2472 Self government powers - limiting property tax to general powers ~.;I'" RESOLUTION NO. 2472 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, TO SUBMIT TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AS TO WHETHER TO ENACT AN ORDINANCE RESTRICTING PROPERTY TAX LEVIES TO THOSE LIMITATIONS ESTABLISHED BY STATE LAW FOR GENERAL GOVERNMENT POWER CITIES. WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman is asking the electors to grant the Commission-Manager form of government self-government powers at the November 8, 1983 general election for municipal officials; and WHEREAS, it is desirable to set property tax mill levy ceilings consistent with state law for general power government cities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 That there shall be submitted to the qualified electors from the City of Bozeman, Montana, in an election to be held on the 8th day of November, 1983, the question of whether to enact an ordinance restricting property tax levies to those limitations established by state law for general government power cities. Section 2 The statement of implication to be placed on the ballot shall be in a manner similar to the following example: D FOR the City of Bozeman enacting an ordinance restricting property tax levies to those limitations established by state law for general government power cities. D AGAINST the City of Bozeman enacting an ordinance restricting property tax levies to those limitations established by state law for general government power cities. -.... .... .. Section 3 That if the qualified electors grant self-government powers to the City of Bozeman and ratify this referendum the City Commission shall adopt an ordinance restricting property tax mill levies to those limitations established by state law for general government power cities.
