New Member Introductions
Matt, Sally and Cort were welcomed to the board and introductions were made. Cort is

issues via a public relations campaign.
Bike Route Sign Project – Jon Henderson
The main office of SEH engineering firm (Boulder, CO) has announced the closure of
the Bozeman office by 8/31/04. Sara Folger is working with SEH and MDT to retain
Rod Payne as engineer for the sign project. Sign posts have arrived and signs have
been ordered. Rack order is awaiting the fate of the concrete pad bid. Manufacturer
has racks in stock.
Bicycle Network Map – Jon Henderson
Jon will contact DMT consulting (producers of the GVLT Trail Map) to see if they are
interested in producing our map since SEH is closing up shop. Matt, Carol, Susan, and
David shared their rough drafts of text boxes for the back of map with the board for
review. Jon will carry drafts to DMT consulting.
BABAB officers – David Baumbauer
It was election time for the three offices. David and Jon will remain in the Chair and Co-
Chair positions. Matt was elected as Recording Secretary. Matt has ideas on the
creation of a BABAB website and listserv to make communication more efficient.
Role of Commission Liaison – Steve Kirchhoff
Steve visited with us on his role as BABAB liaison. The board agreed that the
improved communications (see above) will be a benefit and that we will contact Steve
when we need him to attend future meetings.
TCC Meeting Summary – Jim Nallick
The South 19th project (Kagy to Babcock) was reviewed. BABAB had met with MSU
planners to float the idea of a shared use path in addition to bike lanes. MSU wrote the
project administration to promote the shared use path given the population of
youngsters in the Family housing area. The city isn’t interested in spending money on
the redesign of the project. This is an important component to the big blue line as it
connects Kagy with the proposed path along College. Steve was going to visit with
Debbie Arkell and/or Rick Hixson to see what options are available.
MDT is planning to replace bridges over the Story Mill Spur Trail with a tunnel.
VLT Building Annexation – Matt Rognlie
Matt brought it to the board’s attention the possible annexation of land that includes
connector trails from South 7th to the trail west of Figgins Subdivision. David to connect
Gary at GVLT to see if the trail connector is threatened.
Additional Action Items
While researching city and state cycling regulations, Matt found BPD’s officer Schutlz to
be an interested party. Matt will invite him to the next BABAB meeting to discuss
bicycle issues from the BPD view.
David will contact Sara Folger on the status of the two shared use path projects that are
in the CTEP proposal pipeline.
See you all on September 7th at 6 pm.
