Attending: Jeff Ball, David Bambauer, Steve Eiger, Cort Felts, Susan Gallagher, Emily
Harrington, Jon Henderson, Tom Greason of the Gallatin Valley Bicycle Club, Chris
Kukulski
Emily presented a draft of new bicycling map. The board agreed that Emily’s design is
excellent & to have comments on map editing by next board meeting.
City Manager Chris Kukulski attended the first half of the meeting. With Chris, the
board discussed contradictions & redundancies in bike route planning, as well as the need
to make bicycle considerations a more routine component of city commission subdivision
review. Chris was encouraged by the support he’s encountered for the proposed shared
use path on the College-Huffine corridor.
The board agreed to draft a letter expressing support for the historic multi-use trails
within the southern lots of the new library site. The letter will be drafted & signed by the
next meeting.
Subdivision review:
Oak Springs—the Transportation Plan recommends a shared-use-path on Oak and a lane
on Durston. The board agreed to follow the transportation plan.
New First Security Bank branch on Huffine & Cottonwood. The board recommended a
bike lane on Cottonwood.
Tom Greason of the Gallatin Valley Bike Club brought two issues to the board’s
attention:
1. Clean shoulder initiative. Riders are experiencing inordinate amounts of debris
on lanes, routes, and paths, as well as on most state & county roadways.
2. the GVBC is producing “Share the Road” bumper stickers & statics, and tom
wondered if BABAB would share in the costs, etc.
