1. Firm Overview
Western Skies Landscapes, LLC is a Bozeman-based landscape contractor
providing year-round landscaping, irrigation, landscape construction,
excavation, and snow and ice management services.
Western Skies Landscapes is currently an active contractor with the
City of Bozeman. We are submitting our qualifications through this
RFQ to update the City on the full range of services we currently
provide, establish current pricing for those services, and make our
company available to Parks & Recreation and other City departments
for future projects and service needs.
Our operations include dedicated management, field crews, project
personnel, irrigation specialists, equipment operators, and
fleet/shop support. This structure allows us to perform recurring
maintenance, individual service calls, landscape construction
projects, and time-sensitive work throughout the Bozeman area.
2. Services & Capabilities
Western Skies Landscapes provides a broad range of landscape,
irrigation, construction, and exterior site services.
Landscape Maintenance
Services include:
● General landscape maintenance
● Spring cleanups
● Fall cleanups
● Landscape bed cleanup and maintenance
● Weeding and weed removal
● Shrub and bush trimming
● Pruning and plant maintenance
● Leaf removal
● Dethatching
● Mowing and trimming
● Native grass and field mowing
● Debris removal
● Mulch installation
● Rock and decorative landscape material installation
● General property and grounds cleanup
Landscape Construction & Installation
Western Skies Landscapes performs new landscape installations as well
as renovations and improvements to existing landscapes.
Services include:
● Complete landscape installation

● Soil preparation and amendment
● Landscape bed construction
● Tree planting
● Shrub planting
● Perennial and ornamental planting

Larger or specialized hardscape projects may be individually
evaluated and quoted based on project requirements.

● Small-tree pruning
● Accessible tree and branch maintenance

● Coordination and support for larger specialty forestry work
when required
Weed & Vegetation Management
Services include:
● Landscape bed weed removal
● Mechanical vegetation removal
● Native and overgrown vegetation management
● Bare-ground vegetation management
● Landscape bed treatment programs
● Lawn weed and fertilizer programs
● Related vegetation-management services
Chemical applications may be completed directly or through an
approved specialty subcontractor depending on the application and
licensing requirements.
Snow & Ice Management
Western Skies Landscapes operates year-round and provides commercial
and municipal snow and ice management.
Services include:
● Parking lot plowing
● Drive lane clearing
● Sidewalk clearing
● Snow blowing
● Snow shoveling
● Ice-control applications
● Snow pile relocation
● Snow hauling when required
● Storm response
● Seasonal snow-management contracts
● Per-occurrence snow service
3. Experience & Qualifications
Western Skies Landscapes has experience providing landscape
maintenance, irrigation, landscape construction, snow management, and
related exterior services for commercial, residential, institutional,
property-management, and public-sector clients.
WSL currently performs landscaping-related work for the City of
Bozeman and is familiar with coordinating work around City
properties, public spaces, staff, residents, and other contractors.
Our Bozeman operation includes multiple field crews and specialty
personnel, allowing us to perform recurring work while also
scheduling individual projects and as-needed service requests.
Our management and scheduling systems allow us to:
● Assign personnel and equipment based on project requirements
● Coordinate work with City representatives
● Document work and site conditions
● Provide before-and-after photographs when appropriate
● Track labor and materials
● Schedule recurring and one-time services
● Respond to changing site conditions
● Manage multiple City locations and task orders simultaneously
4. Availability & Capacity
Western Skies Landscapes maintains year-round operations in Bozeman.
During the landscape season, multiple crews perform landscape
maintenance, mowing, irrigation, landscape installation, and project
work. During the winter season, personnel and equipment transition
into snow and ice operations while continuing appropriate project,
maintenance, and service work.
Work is centrally scheduled and coordinated so personnel, equipment,
and materials can be assigned according to project priority and
required completion dates.
For larger projects, Western Skies Landscapes will coordinate the
anticipated schedule, materials, equipment requirements, access, and
completion expectations with the City before beginning work.
5. Services & Pricing
Western Skies Landscapes proposes the following pricing as a basis
for future City of Bozeman task orders.
Standard Service Rate
$150 per hour
Unless another pricing structure is specifically quoted or
contracted, WSL's standard service rate applies to labor-based
services including:
● Landscape maintenance
● Landscape cleanups
● Weeding
● Shrub trimming
● Pruning
● Leaf removal
● Dethatching
● Native grass and field mowing
● Debris removal
● Irrigation startups
● Irrigation service and troubleshooting
● Irrigation repairs
● Landscape demolition
● Excavation
● Grading and site preparation
● Landscape installation
● Landscape remodels
● Hardscape installation and repair
● Tree and shrub planting
● Sod installation
● Landscape bed installation
● Drainage-related landscape work
● Equipment/operator work
● General landscape construction
● Related exterior site work
Materials are billed additionally unless specifically included in an
approved quote.
Disposal fees, specialty equipment, permits, subcontractors,
specialty rentals, and other direct project costs are billed
additionally when applicable.
Larger projects may be quoted as a fixed or estimated project price
rather than billed strictly hourly.
Irrigation Blowouts
Up to 11 zones: $150 per system
12 or more zones: $13 per zone
Materials and repairs are additional.
Recurring Mowing
Recurring mowing is priced per occurrence based on property size,
expected service time, site conditions, and required scope.
Large properties, native grass areas, fields, and specialty mowing
may be billed at the standard $150/hour service rate or quoted by
project.
Mulch & Landscape Materials
Mulch installation may be priced per cubic yard, including material,
delivery, and standard installation.
Soil, rock, gravel, plants, trees, shrubs, sod, pavers, irrigation
components, and other landscape materials are priced based on actual
project requirements.
Snow & Ice Management
Snow and ice management is priced based on the individual property
and requested service level.
Pricing may be established as:
● Per occurrence
● Hourly
● Monthly
● Seasonal contract
Pricing is based on service area, equipment requirements,
accumulation trigger, service frequency, response requirements, and
scope.
Ice-control materials, snow hauling, snow pile relocation, and
services outside the contracted scope are additional unless
specifically included.
Weed & Lawn Treatment Programs
Chemical weed control, bare-ground applications, fertilizer programs,
and lawn-treatment programs are priced separately based on:
● Property size
● Application type
● Treatment frequency
● Materials
● Required licensing
● Subcontractor requirements, when applicable
Project-Based Pricing
Landscape construction and improvement projects may be individually
estimated or quoted.
Project pricing may include:
● Labor
● Equipment
● Materials
● Mobilization
● Disposal
● Subcontractors
● Permits
● Rentals
● Other project-specific costs
A written scope and price will be provided for projects when
project-based pricing is more appropriate than the standard hourly
service rate.
6. Safety, Insurance &
Compliance
Western Skies Landscapes maintains workplace safety practices
appropriate for landscape maintenance, irrigation, excavation,
equipment operation, landscape construction, and snow and ice
management.
WSL will comply with applicable federal, state, and local
requirements, including applicable licensing, permitting, OSHA, City
of Bozeman, and site-specific safety requirements.
Required insurance certificates and endorsements can be provided to
the City as required under the City's term contract.
7. Generative Artificial
Intelligence Disclosure
Western Skies Landscapes does not intend to use Generative Artificial
Intelligence to perform field services or contracted physical work.
Generative AI may be used internally for administrative assistance,
such as drafting or organizing business documents. Any use related to
deliverables under a City contract will be disclosed to the City when
required, and Western Skies Landscapes will comply with the City's
requirements regarding confidentiality, personally identifiable
information, accuracy, bias, and copyright.
8. Nondiscrimination & Equal
Pay Affirmation
Western Skies Landscapes, LLC affirms that it will not discriminate
on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, marital
status, national origin, actual or perceived sexual orientation,
gender identity, or disability and acknowledges that this prohibition
applies to the hiring and treatment of employees and applicable
subcontractors.
Western Skies Landscapes, LLC further affirms that it will abide by
the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Section 39-3-104, MCA, the Montana
Equal Pay Act.
