I help organizations align their values with how they support people, places and communities. Through strategy, education, community engagement and program development, I help expand access, strengthen relationships and turn good intentions into practical action. My work ranges from helping a small nonprofit strengthen its programs and capacity to developing culture education and strategy for national organizations and large businesses. I also work at the intersection of philanthropy and community impact, helping funders better understand community needs, connect with nonprofits doing effective work, and strengthen the capacity of organizations they support. A consistent part of my work is helping organizations ask: Who are we serving? Who might we be missing? What barriers exist? How can we create a better experience for more people? How can we strengthen communities, programs, teams, and organizational culture? That lens can be applied to employees, residents, participants, youth, volunteers, public programs, community engagement and organizational decision-making. I have worked with more than 30 local nonprofits and community organizations, helping with everything from funding and partnerships to strategy, programs, outreach and organizational capacity. I have also worked with major national organizations and businesses. My work with Alterra Mountain Company supports a company with approximately 30,000 employees. I am developing culture education for US Ski & Snowboard designed to support 11 Olympic team disciplines. For Share Winter Foundation I created resources for staff and volunteers serving approximately 50,000 youth at 87 ski areas. I have worked with foundations from both sides of philanthropy. As Outreach Manager for Yellowstone Club Community Foundation, I worked directly with nonprofits, funders and community partners throughout the greater Big Sky area. More recently, I have supported Boyne Forever Foundation as it builds the strategy, partnerships and systems needed to grow into a large community foundation serving Boyne Resorts communities. This range allows me to adjust the work to the organization and project. A small nonprofit, City department, community coalition and national corporation operate very differently, but many of the underlying challenges are the same: understanding people, building trust, setting clear goals and turning those goals into action. LOCAL & RECREATION EXPERIENCE I have lived and worked in Bozeman for more than 25 years and have built relationships across the area's nonprofit, business, recreation, philanthropic and community sectors. My local work has included leading a 15-organization community initiative through the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce, providing education for local human resource membership associations, supporting dozens of local nonprofits, and participating in regional recreation, health, trails and community planning initiatives. I also bring more than 25 years of firsthand experience in outdoor recreation. I began my career coaching competitive freestyle skiing with Bridger Ski Foundation and have worked as a ski instructor and guide at Yellowstone Club since 2007. That combination of consulting and hands-on recreation experience is particularly useful when questions of culture, access and inclusion intersect with the practical realities of operating programs, serving the public and creating positive participant experiences.
