Hello Bozeman City Commission—
My name is Mike Veselik and I write to you today wholly in my personal capacity as a
resident of Bozeman. Tonight, as you consider the potential ballot issues you may propose tovoters in 2027, I strongly urge the Commission to give unique weight to issues that can benefit
families with young children such as a west side library and aquatics facility.
As a father of two young girls, the opportunities are minimal in town for us to go out as afamily to enjoy activities at little cost. Further, the facilities the City does have such as Bogert
Pool do not prioritize the needs of families with young children. The pool is closed the entiremorning for lap swimmers and lessons when families would take advantage of more
opportunities to use city infrastructure.
To keep Bozeman a friendly and welcoming city, it needs to remain friendly and welcoming tofamilies that are raising children in the community. The children who grow up here are the
most likely people to choose to live here in adulthood and raise their families here. Let’s getthem started with a good relationship to city government by prioritizing their needs for good
outdoor spaces, learning opportunities, and places to enjoy their favorite activities byproposing to voters bonds that support long-term infrastructure investment focused on
families.
Please consider the fact that many, many parents in this community will not have the time orenergy to write in on the ballot measures under consideration between their careers, raising
kids, and running their households. They are relying on you to keep their interest front ofmind. Best of luck as you weigh the decisions in front of you!
