I would like to extend a vote of support for the prioritization of a pool / aquatics center. I understand you have asked the public to share their thoughts on the following. I would like Bozeman to offer: A competition swimming pool with starting blocks to support the needs of local and regional athletes.A warm water therapy pool to support water fitness classes and swim lessons. A facility for children with a lazy river and splash pool. I currently utilize the Bozeman city pools for Master swimming and individual lap swimming. I am limited by the Master Swim and lap swim times. I would especially like at least one ortwo lanes open for lap swimming at all times. I do not take any of the water fitness classes at the Swim Center because the water is too cold. I would like to have the opportunity toswim laps at a lap-appropriate temperature and do water fitness at a warmer temperature. I think having two separate pools for water fitness classes/swim lessons, and lap swimmingwould solve a lot of our problems. I am a frequent user of the Bogert swimming pool in the summer and see how manychildren enjoy using the Bogert pools in the summer. It would be especially great for the children of Bozeman and the surrounding communities to have access to a welcoming poolfacility during all months of the year. We have insufficient facilities to accommodate the demand for swim lessons, and our statehas one of the highest rates of drowning deaths in our nation. Swim lessons are so very important here in Bozeman as we have so much access to rivers and lakes where it isimportant to be able to swim. Aquatic fitness is essential exercise for the aging population. A warmer pool wouldfacilitate additional classes for more seniors. Thank you for your consideration and the time you dedicate to the Commission. Sincerely, Sandy Knoll --------------------------- Sandy Knoll sjb.knoll@gmail.com
