Dear Bozeman City Commission,
I am writing to share my support for the development of a new aquatics facility inBozeman.
My son has been swimming since he was eight years old, and we have experienced
firsthand how difficult it can be to find access to swimming lessons, practices, andpool time because of the limited capacity of the existing facilities. As thecommunity continues to grow, the demand for pool space has only become more
apparent.
I believe Bozeman needs a facility that serves the entire community, including ashort-course competition pool for swim teams and lessons, waterslides and
recreational features for families, and an outdoor aquatic facility for the summer
months. Many other communities across Montana have invested in facilities thatprovide these types of opportunities, and I believe Bozeman would benefit greatlyfrom a similar investment.
A new aquatics center would provide much more than a place for competitiveswimmers. It could provide swimming lessons for children, recreationalopportunities for families, water safety education, fitness and wellness
opportunities, and a year-round community gathering place.
My family's experience with the limited availability of pool space has made it clearto us that this is a need in our growing community. I hope the City Commission will
consider an aquatics facility as an important investment in Bozeman's future.
