PART 1: GENERAL
1.01 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Glass and glazing for items that are not factory glazed.

1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Section 01 33 00 - Submittal Procedures.
1. Manufacturer's recommended installation instructions.
2. DO NOT submit glass samples unless specifically requested.
1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Reference Specification: GAMA "Glazing Manual", by Flat Glass Marketing Association.
B. Materials: Conform in all respects to the "Safety Standard for Architectural Glazing Materials", 16CFR
1201, issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Must Comply with ANSI Z97.1.
C. Fire Protective Rated Glass: Each lite shall bear permanent, non-removable label of UL certifying it for
use in tested and rated fire protective assemblies.
1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Section 01 60 00 - Product Requirements.
1. Package, handle, deliver, and store to avoid damage. Scratched glass will be rejected.
1.06 PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Do not proceed with installation of liquid sealants under adverse weather conditions, or when
temperatures are below or above manufacturer's recommended limitations for installation.
PART 2: PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS
GLT 1: 1/4 inch, clear, FS, DD-G-451, Grade B, Style 1, Type I, class 1, quality q3, free
of tong marks, ANSI Z97
GLT 1T: 1/4 inch tempered, clear, FS, DD-G-451, Grade B, Style 1, Type I, class 1,
quality q3, free of tong marks, ANSI Z97

GLT 2: 1 inch insulated consisting of: 1/4 inch float, clear, FS, DD-G-451, Type I, Class
3, quality q3, exterior and interior boards, 1/2 inch air space. Purge air space with
dry, hermetic air. Low-E 272 coating on interior board surface number 2.
ASTM E 774.Visible transmittance of .6 or greater required with a maximum
external reflectance value of .2
GLT 2T: 1 inch insulated consisting of: 1/4 inch tempered, clear, FS, DD-G-451, Grade B,
Style 1, Type I, Class 1, quality q3, free of tong marks, ANSI Z97.1, exterior and
interior boards, 1/2 inch air space. Purge air space with dry, hermetic air. Low-E
272 coating on interior board surface number 2. ASTM E 774. Visible
transmittance of .6 or greater required with a maximum external reflectance
value of .2
GLT FNI90: 3/16 inch thick glazing 20 to 90 minute fire rated glazing. FireLite (brand),
Vetrotech Keralite R, or equal. (for use in non-impact, safety-rated locations
such as transoms and borrowed lites)
GLT FRI20 1/4 inch thick glazing, fire rated for 20 minutes. Vetrotech, Pyroswiss, or equal.
(Fire-rated tempered safety glass, clear and wireless glazing material for use in
impact safety-rated locations such as P1 & P2 doors, with fire rating
requirement of 20 minutes & not required to meet hose stream test)
GLT FRI45 3/4 inch Laminated safety glass with intumescent interlayer (Fire-rated glass
laminated clear and wireless glazing material for use in impact safety-rated
locations such as doors, transoms and borrowed lites with fire rating
requirements ranging from 20 minutes to 45 minutes with required hose stream
test)
GLT FRI3 5/16 inch thick glazing, fire rated for 45 minutes to 3 hours fire rated glazing.
FireLite Plus (brand), Vetrotech Keralite L, Pyran Platinum L (laminated), or
equal.. (Fire-rated glass ceramic laminated clear and wireless glazing material
for use in impact safety-rated locations such as doors, transoms and borrowed
lites with fire rating requirements ranging from 60 minutes to 3 hours with
required hose stream test)
GLT M 1/4" Clear Mirror with Vinyl Safety Backing
2.02 ACCESSORIES
A. Glazing Sealant: 1-part polysulphide, similar to Pecora GC-9 Synthacalk, Fed. Spec. TT-S-230C.
B. Setting Blocks: 70-90 Shore "A" durometer, sized to accommodate size of glass used, compatible with
glazing sealant.
C. Spacers: Compatible with sealant used.
D. Primer, Sealers, Cleaners: As recommended by glass manufacturer.
E. Entrance Door and Frame Glazing Inserts: As recommended by glass manufacturer.
2.03 MIRRORS
A. No 1 quality, minimum ¼ inch thick float glass mirror, beveled edges, guaranteed for ten (10) years
against silver spoilage; sizes and locations as indicate on drawings.
B. Backing : Shatter-proof mirror backing tape, ASTM D1709 ANSI Z97.1: applied full width of mirror
without gaps
C. Where not otherwise specified to be a framed mirror by interiors (see interiors for frame size, type,
style, material, finish, and size), mirrors shall be installed with stainless steel clips at the top and
bottom, and adhesive.”

PART 3: EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that glazing channels are free of burrs, irregularities, and debris.
B. Verify that glass is free of edge damage or face imperfections.
C. Do not proceed with installation until conditions are satisfactory.
3.02 PREPARATION
A. Field Measurement
1. Measure size of frame to receive glass.
2. Compute actual glass size, allowing for edge clearances.
B. Preparation of Surfaces
1. Remove protective coatings from surfaces to be glazed.
2. Clean glass and glazing surfaces to remove dust, oil and contaminants.
3.03 INSTALLATION
A. Install glass in accordance with glass manufacturer's recommended instructions.
B. Provide weather-tight installation.
C. Install with mirror coating toward sales area.
D. Glaze entrance doors and frames according to manufacturer's instructions. Vulcanize corners of glazing
inserts to form a 1-piece gasket.
3.04 CLEANING
A. Remove excess glazing compound from installed glass.
B. Remove labels from glass and acrylic surfaces as soon as installed.
C. Wash and polish both faces of glass and acrylic. Use cleaners or cleaning solutions recommended by
the glass and acrylic manufacturers.
D. Remove debris from work site.
3.05 PROTECTION
A. Attach crossed streamers away from glass face.
B. Do not apply markers to glass surface.
C. Replace damaged glass with new replacement glass.
