The purpose of this report is to analyze the increase in trip generation brought on by Roers Bozeman Apartments, consisting of two mid-rise, multi-family residential buildings, a total of 285 dwelling units. Study recommendations and conclusions are intended to provide insight to the increase in trip generation and what improvements, if any, may be necessary to accommodate the additional traffic demand. Proposed Development Development Description The proposed development is located in Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana on Lot 1, Block 3 of Urban + Farm Subdivision Phase 2. The property is bordered by Park C to the west, Open Space A to the south, Laurel Parkway to the east, and Valley Commons to the north. Analysis Trip Generation Trip generation is a forecast of the number of trips that begin or end at the development site. The traffic generated is a function of the quantity and type of proposed land use. There are several options available for estimating trip generation. This study utilized trip generation rates based on the specific Land Use Code (LUC) found in Trip Generation,11th Edition published by the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). The total estimated trip generation for the site is provided in Table 1 below. Table 1: Estimated Site Trip Generation Summary (LUC 221) This assumes the following from the Trip Generation Manual 11th Edition, Institute of Transportation (ITE): Time Period Average Rate or Equation Weekday 4.54 Vehicle Trips per Dwelling Unit (50% Enter, 50% Exit) Weekday, Peak Hour of Adjacent Street Traffic, One Hour Between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. 0.37 Vehicle Trips per Dwelling Unit (23% Enter, 77% Exit) Weekday, Peak Hour of Adjacent Street Traffic, One Hour Between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. 0.44 Vehicle Trips per Dwelling Unit (61% Enter, 39% Exit) The proposed development generates an estimated 1,294 average weekday trips as well as average weekday AM and PM peak hour trips of 81 and 111 vehicles, respectively. Findings Given the trip generation, distribution, and comparison of intersection LOS between the existing and proposed land usage, the minor increase in trip ends to and from the Urban + Farm Subdivision Phase 2 does not significantly impact the surrounding traffic network.
