Dear City Commission,
I am writing to ask that F.3 (Authorize the City Manager to sign the Torch Relay Agreementwith LA28 to host the Olympic Torch Relay) be pulled from the consent agenda for discussion.
If the City is wishing to pursue participating in the torch relay, I think they should provide anestimate of the fiscal impact to Bozeman, given that the City would be responsible for
providing all the planning and operational support services (including security, trash, trafficcontrol, and emergency services) for the event with no fiscal support from LA28, and is being
required to waive all fees the City would typically charge to permit large events such as this. While the cost to Bozeman will not be as severe as what LA is seeing, there will undeniably
be costs, and the agreement is quite clear about Bozeman being fully responsible for the costs.
Please consider pulling F.3 from the consent agenda for a discussion about fiscal impacts toBozeman and what benefits in exchange Bozeman is hoping to get from participating.
Thank you for your consideration,
