Here are a few of the highlights: • Both Music on the Green concerts were met with great success. Hundreds of patrons enjoyed listening to and dancing along with Emma and Ledge, and Clint Anderson and the Montana Gazette. (Liz and Becky) • We tried out a couple new programs in the form of a presentation on Citizen Science by Bill Locke, and a Cyber Clinic put on by Cyber Montana. (Ben) • The Kitchen Table hosted its first Author/Cook, Mariah Gladstone who gave a taste of indigenous foods to a completely full crowd. (Emily) Summer is a busy time for Library outreach. This summer the Library handled 15 tours, and presentations with help coming from all Library teams. We were especially grateful for the short term workers from Youth Services who made our participation in several events possible. Here are a few highlights: • Farmers' Markets at the beginning and end of summer were excellent locations for distributing guidebooks. (Ben N., Liz, Kate A.) • The Bozeman Renaissance Festival was a great opportunity to highlight the machines of the Work Bench to an interested audience (Ben N., Emily, Liz, Matt) • Music on Main gave us the chance to engage with many children and their parents in the Kids Zone (Emily, Grace E., Ben N.) • Homeward Point invited us to participate in their first customer appreciation day which gave us a chance to visit with some of their customers outside the Library (Ben N, Grace E.) • David is gearing up for the busiest Work Bench season by offering a new Ask David Anything program on Saturday mornings with the hope that many of the more advanced questions can be handled that way. • Liz is back full time and fall will see the return of some her beloved programs like Crafternoon and Quilting. • The team has diligently planned alternate locations for programs as disruptions from the renovation loom closer. We are hoping to provide patrons with the least interruptions we can. Patrons fill the Kitchen Table and beyond for Mariah Gladstone's presentation. Emily and Ben assist patrons at the Bozeman Renaissance Festival 14 Mobile Services Report Summer 2026 Summary Stop data: Total Stops: 132 Total Service Hours:142.25 Total Patrons: 1575 Programming Data*: Total Programs: 140 96 Outreach Storytimes 39 Summer Learning 5 BELLA summer camp Total Program Attendees: 1328 Birth-5, 373 Elementary Age Children, 19 Teens, 340 Adults. Total: 2,060 *Some Data will overlap with Youth Services Report Bookmobile Update: Mobile Services was on the road for 10 total weeks of Summer Learning scheduling. From June 15th through August 22nd. Additionally, the statistics in this report include a special event (BLOC Party @ Story Mansion) on August 27th and several make up stops completed the week of August 24th. This was the first summer of data following Mobile Services’ shift to a 3 week schedule. Due to this shift, we would expect to see a 33% decrease in stats across the board from the previous summer. In reality, We saw a higher than expected number of total stops, service time and overall program participants, having added several unique stops, including preschools from our schedule last summer to this summer. However, We saw lower than expected total patron attendance and participation in our STEAM programming. This is likely due to the cancelation of the Lunch on the Lawn event by the Emerson, previously our highest attendance stop during the summer, coupled with inclement conditions (smoke and extreme temperatures) causing fewer people to be at parks and other outdoor spaces during much of the summer. A decrease in participation in our BELLA Summer Camp outreach programming is directly tied to the ICE activity experienced in late June. Burnim Won a Cates Scholarship Elianna Burnim was awarded the Montana Library Association’s Sheila Cates Scholarship. Sheila Cates served as Library Development Coordinator at the Montana State Library from 1985 until her death from cancer in 1993. Sheila, whose energy, kindness, and ingenuity made an impact on so many Montana librarians, was named Montana Library Association’s Librarian of the Year in 1993. The Montana Library Association established the Sheila Cates Scholarship in 1994 to provide financial support to association members seeking education in the library and information science field. The Sheila Cates Scholarship provides financial support to Montana Library Association members seeking a graduate degree in library and information science or a graduate school library media program. Individuals selected to receive an award from the scholarship fund must show potential for emulating Sheila’s contributions to Montana libraries. Congratulations, Elianna! Here’s the announcement blurb from the Cates Scholarship Committee: Elianna is a Library Aide at the Bozeman Public Library. She is pursuing a Master's in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington. When asked about her professional goals, Elianna stated that "my professional ideals center on helping to advance digital equity, expanding on Montana libraries' long-standing tradition of supporting freedom of information to help support the community's ability to utilize technology in support of that same goal...I want to help support initiatives that ensure all community members can effectively engage with digital tools and resources." State Certification Sarah Widger received her Montana State Library Certification in June 2026. She received the Administrator Certification with specializations in both Library Services to the Public and Collection Management and Technical Services. New Scheduling Software In August we purchased a subscription to Snap365 Scheduling as the chosen tool for assisting with the development of desk schedules for the library. This has been a multi-month process starting in November 2025 when Becky, Sarah, and Carmen met with other libraries across the state and country to learn from their experiences. Snap365 met the needs of Bozeman Public Library best and can show when staff are scheduled and what their tasks are during their scheduled shift. It can accommodate different time off types and email a weekly schedule to employees. Recent Hires We welcomed three new staff members to the Public Services Department in Spring 2026: Evey, Peter, and Sam. Peter works 20 hours per week and Sam and Evey each work 15 hours per week. They spend portions of their day shelving, answering phones and carting recently returned books, and working at the front Hub desk. They have learned a lot over the past few months, and it has been great having them on board! 16 September 2026 - FY26 Statistics Snapshot Prepared by Sarah Widger, Department Head swidger@bozeman.net, 406-582-2403 (desk), 406-579-9271 (cell) Circulation Total Circulation: 1,013,518 Bozeman Physical Items: 577,753 Mobile Library Physical Items: 27,912 Digital Resources: 407,853 Bozeman Physical Items: 577,753 Adult Collection: 247,878 Fiction: 113,793 Nonfiction: 80,305 Magazines & Non-Print: 53,698 Young Adult Collection: 18,495 Fiction: 17,391 Nonfiction: 461 Non-Print: 643 Juvenile Collection: 311,380 Fiction: 231,034 Nonfiction: 49,949 Magazines & Non-Print: 30,397 Mobile Library Physical Items: 27,912 Adult Collection: 3,538 Fiction: 1,988 Nonfiction: 772 Non-Print: 778 Young Adult Collection: 273 Fiction: 254 Nonfiction: 7 Non-Print: 12 Juvenile Collection: 24,101 Fiction: 17,881 Nonfiction: 3,939 Non-Print: 2,281 Digital Resources: 407,853 Libby: 219,600 New York Times: 58,609 Newsbank: 30,174 Hoopla: 29,291 Kanopy: 16,647 Library Speakers Consortium: 12,172 Consumer Reports: 8,258 Linkedin Learning: 7,664 NYT Cooking: 6,271 Culturegrams: 4,684 Transparent Language: 4,420 Ancestry: 3,265 Novelist: 2,488 Academic Search Elite: 1,070 Creativebug: 854 Blackstone Unlimited: 679 17 Main Library Visits: 354,091 Children’s Room Visits: 137,597 Open Hours: 2,947 New Library Cards: 6,065 Holds Placed by Bozeman Patrons: 66,651 Overdue Notices Sent: 275,029 Self-Checkout Uses: 331,253 Item Renewals: 187,890 Items Sent via County Courier: 14,123 Items Received via County Courier: 17,020 Meeting Room Bookings: 1,981 Mobile Library Visits: 10,748 Number of Stops: 672 Service Hours: 636 Weeks in Operation: 46 New Library Cards: 201 Programs: 553 Program Attendees: 9,381 Programs Total Programs: 1,718 (including Mobile Library Programs (553) & Outreach Events (39)) Adult Programs: 554 All Ages Programs: 80 Teen Programs: 71 Tween Programs: 52 6-11 Programs: 226 0-5 Programs: 735 Total Program Attendance: 80,396 (including Mobile Library Programs (9,381) & Outreach Events (3,544)) Adult Program Attendance: 9,090 All Ages Program Attendance: 23,466 Teen Program Attendance: 1,704 Tween Program Attendance: 1,120 Age 6-11 Attendance: 19,876 Age 0-5 Attendance: 25,140 18 Children’s Room RenovationAs summer comes to a close, this fall’s plans areat last coming into focus.
