As a longtime resident of Bozeman, I’m writing to express my concern over the damage being done to the trees at
Lindley Park by the weekly Farmer’s Market. The 100+ vehicles that compact the ground on a weekly basis are doing
irreparable harm to the trees that make this park so great. Trees are not meant to absorb so much weight. When
the ground is crushed in this manner, the trees are weakened and are prone to disease, infection and increased
instability as witnessed by the destruction from strong winds. In addition, many vehicles park with no regard to tree
roots or low-hanging branches on bushes. Compounding the problems caused by the heavy vehicles is the 1000s of
people who are also compacting the soil to the point where moisture isn’t being absorbed but simply runs off
instead. I encourage commissioners to visit the park on a Tuesday evening during summer and witness for
themselves the damage being done to our beloved Lindley Park Trees. See attached photo

I have submitted comments to the City Commission regarding damage to trees in Lindley Park
from Tuesday Farmer Market.Compacting soil around trees is not good for them. It’s time to protect the trees and move the
Farmers Market.
I will be sending more pics.

I have a lot of photos, but you should get the idea, all this truck, trailer and car traffic, not to
mention a the hundreds of people trampling the ground around the trees weekly is not healthyfor the tress.
