Dear Commissioners, I am writing in strong support of the proposed Strategic Plan amendments and their increased emphasis on life safety. I appreciate the care City Commission has shown in responding to theserious pedestrian and bicyclist incidents this year. As a municipality, protecting residents must remain at the heart of the services provided and the community we build. I also want to thank Commissioner Jen Madgic for elevating the concerns of families who arebusy working and raising children and may not always have the time to participate in a formal setting. These amendments reflect the concerns of many parents and residents who want safetyto remain a clear City priority. I also support increasing development review fees, provided that our investment in development review is matched by adequate resources for code compliance. Design reviewand code compliance should be counterparts: what is approved on paper must be followed through in the field and after final inspection. If we are serious about protecting the “last bestplace” we call Bozeman, that commitment must extend beyond plan review to real-world accountability. Will any portion of the increased fees or resulting City resources support code compliance?Ben Bailey has been wonderful in his role, bringing a positive attitude and solution-oriented approach. I would like to see that function receive the staffing and resources necessary to keeppace with Bozeman’s continued growth. Thank you all for the time, care, and many late nights you dedicate to serving Bozeman, and especially for keeping busy families in mind, even when we cannot always be front and center.Your service is very much appreciated!
