Good afternoon,
I would like to express my strong opposition to the proposed removal of the Bogert Pavilion asshown on the See BZN Creek Display Board.
The pavilion is a cherished community asset that provides a place for people to gather duringthe winter months for hockey and ice skating. It is a resource that our community cannot
afford to lose. Hundreds of people use the pavilion each day during the winter for recreation, and it serves as one of the few public spaces where Bozeman residents can come together, stay
active, and connect with one another.
I encourage the project planners to explore alternatives that would preserve the pavilion, such
as redesigning the stream alignment to keep this valuable facility in place. I believemaintaining the pavilion would better balance the goals of the creek restoration project with
the recreational needs of the community.
Rather than removing the pavilion, I encourage the City to consider investing in it. Upgrades
could improve the experience for families and provide an even better place for children andadults to learn to ice skate and enjoy outdoor winter recreation. During the summer months,
the pavilion could also serve as a roller hockey rink or other multi-use recreational space.
The Bozeman hockey community is much larger than many people realize. A dedicated space
for roller hockey and skating in the summer would be a tremendous asset for local youth, families, and recreational athletes. It would help strengthen an already thriving community
while making year-round use of an existing public facility.
Thank you for considering my comments. I hope the City will work to preserve and enhance
the Bogert Pavilion as part of the See BZN Creek project, rather than remove a facility that hasserved the Bozeman community so well.
