City Commission,
I was disappointed to see in the second display board titled “Reintegrating Bogert Park” that the City
is proposing to remove the Bogert Pavillion especially after insurance proceeds were spent to rebuild
the roof allowing it to last another 25 years. Removal of the Bogert Pavilion and the ice rink would
be a complete waste of established and improved infrastructure. Demand for outdoor ice skating far
exceeds the present public offerings in the City of Bozeman and this is the only outdoor ice rink that
is covered to protect the ice from the sun. Climate change has greatly impacted the ability of the
City to provide outdoor ice in the winter. Removing the covered ice rink would have an enormous
negative impact on this resource and will likely eliminate the ability of the City to maintain any
outdoor ice in the winter except in an abnormally cold year.
