WEST, SUITE 6 BOZEMAN, MT 59718 406-581-5730 www.headwatersmt.net Page 1 of 2 March 27, 2026 City of Bozeman Engineering Department Re: 25755 – BCPC Facility – Administrative Waiver Request Water service exceeding 150’ of length The lot size and configuration require a water service to exceed the maximum length of 150’ for the proposed office building on the north end of the parking lot. The small demand for the office does not warrant a water main extension into the property and therefore we are requesting an administrative waiver. Section 1.9.1 of the Design and Construction standards require submittal online, but ProjectDox does not have an Administrative Waiver application type. Review Criteria Section 1.9.2 A. The deviation from standards is not in conflict with applicable state and federal codes and requirements. The proposed 218’ water service length does not conflict with the Uniform Plumbing Code or any other known State or Federal codes. B. The deviation from standards will not harm, or will be beneficial to, the public in general. The longer water service will have no effect on the general public. C. The deviation from standards is consistent with the general purpose of standards to protect public health and safety and promote operational efficiency while minimizing life-cycle costs of public infrastructure. Let me know if you need anything additional for this request. The proposed longer water service does not affect public health and safety and does not increase public costs since the water service installation and maintenance will be the responsibility of the lot owner. The instantaneous water demand for the office as calculated using the Uniform Plumbing Code is 9 gpm. Results from the WaterCAD model for the service are included below and show that the pressure at the end of the 1” water service is 72 psi at 9 gpm. The system data is from the December 6th, 2025 Fire Flow Report from the City of Bozeman. Figure 1 - Junction Report Page 2 of 2 Figure 2 – WaterCAD Layout With the above information, we are confident that the proposed 1” water service length of 218’ will adequately service the proposed office building and meet all City of Bozeman, State and Federal codes and therefor request an administrative waiver to allow approval of the site plan. Let me know if any additional information is needed for this request. Sincerely, ________________ Jeremy May, P.E.
