Greetings Honorable Commissioners.
Please take a deep pause and offer a detailed public discussion on the idea of Opportunity
Zones in our community.
To quote Scott Boyd in our community forum Next Door:
"Bozeman should use every available tool to build more housing. The Idaho Pole Superfund
site, for example, represents a genuine case where Opportunity Zone equity might change
the math on a site with real barriers to investment. That is precisely what the program was
designed for. But approving two sweeping designations, covering enormous swaths of the
city, on the consent agenda, without public input and without a single binding affordability
requirement, is not a housing strategy. It is an unguarded subsidy directed at one of the
hottest real estate markets in Montana."
