Home My WebLink About019 IrrigationGallatin Center Subdivision Preliminary Plat Application 19 - Irrigation There is no proposed irrigation with the subdivision; therefore, no irrigation supply is identified with this application. Once development of the lots is proposed with subsequent applications, an irrigation source will be identified. Most of the subdivision falls within a solvent site-controlled groundwater area, where irrigation wells may not be permitted. Due to this constraint, it is anticipated that domestic city water will be used for irrigation within the subdivision. The DNRC has been contacted to verify the feasibility of irrigation wells on the subdivision property for future development. If deemed appropriate, further discussions will be held with the MDEQ to determine final feasibility. Please see the DNRC Correspondence included in this section which contains an attachment of the solvent site boundary overlain with the property boundary. Representatives of Tasman Geosciences and the MDEQ have been contacted to identify any additional considerations due to the solvent site. The current geocode for the property is: 06-0904-35-1-05-01-0000. We are reaching out to determine the feasibility of landscape irrigation wells for future landscaping within the subdivision. There are no landscaping plans at this time, but we are wanting to confirm if irrigation wells can be permitted on the property for future developments of the lots. The site falls within the Bozeman Solvent Site Controlled Groundwater Area shown in the attached map. The property is outlined in blue on the attached map for reference. The proposed lot layout is also attached. Please let us know if irrigation wells would be a feasible option for the subdivision, or if another water supply source should be pursued. The project area shown in your email is within the Bozeman Solvent Site. In August 2011, the Montana Department of Environmental Quality issued the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Bozeman Solvent Site. Tetrachloroethene (PCE) is the main contaminant of concern for the Bozeman Solvent Site. The ROD identified that the Bozeman Solvent Site site-specific clean up level (SSCL) for PCE in groundwater is 5 µg/L. There are no Bozeman Solvent Site groundwater monitoring wells on the west side of North 19th Ave North. Historically, a private well north of the project property (R-07) and a private well south of the project property (R-49) were sampled as part of the Bozeman Solvent Site. R-07 was sampled 6 times between 2000 and 2003. PCE was detected at 1 µg/L in June 2001 and 0.8 µg/L in December 2001. These concentrations are less than the SSCL. PCE was not detected (<0.5 µg/L) during the other sampling events. R-49 was sampled annually from 2000 and 2014, and PCE was not detected (<0.5 µg/L) during any of the sampling events. Groundwater flow across the Bozeman Solvent Site is from the south to the north. Based on historical groundwater data, PCE is not expected to be detected in groundwater at your project area. The ROD does not identify construction requirements related to the Bozeman Solvent Site in the area of your project. However, if construction activities require a dewatering permit, the Construction Dewatering General Permit (CDGP) application requires the applicant to contact me regarding current 2 groundwater plume conditions. This email may satisfy that requirement. Please note, the CDGP may have different requirements for PCE concentrations than the Bozeman Solvent Site SSCL prior to discharge under a CDGP.
