Two disability related jobs Devote your days to advancing the rights of Montanans with disabilities READ IN APP I know you care about Montana and you care about disabled people. So, I wanted to make sure you knew about two different job opportunities that have recently been posted. First, is a position at the Montana Council on Developmental Disabilities. The council works to improve opportunities, services, and community inclusion for people with developmental disabilities across Montana. They have just created an exiting new positions called the Director of Systems Change and Strategic JUN 3 Initiatives and I think the person who fills this has a real opportunity to make a big positive impact for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Montana. Click on the link below to learn more about the job and how to apply. Note that the job is posted until filled, so throw your hat in the ring early if you are interested, as you don’t want to see if filled before you get your application in. MCDD posting Second, there is a position at the Board of Visitors. The Board of Visitors needs a new legal secretary after their longtime legal secretary announced her retirement. The Board of Visitors monitors conditions and advocates at the institutions run by the state, like the psychiatric hospital in Warm Springs. That’s where this position is located as they have an office on the grounds of the hospital. If you are interested in this one, you better act quickly as they aren’t accepting applications for very long. BOV posting I work with both of these groups and really hope they find some great people to fill these positions because each organizations mission and role in our state is so important to Montanans with disabilities. In closing, if you currently have a job, I am sure you have pride in knowing you have done a good job each day. But I want to point out that when you show up each day, you exchange your time, talents, and energy to advance your employer’s objectives in exchange for money. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just how the system works. But, I ask you to think about what it would feel like if your values closely aligned with your employers values. What if you could get paid to do work you deeply value as a person, not just as a professional. I speak from experience when I say that I find it very rewarding to have the privilege to do work that aligns with my core values. So, if your values align with either of these jobs, I suggest you seriously consider applying.
