To the Bozeman City Study Commission -
Please keep Article VII - Public Engagement in Local Government.Several new neighborhood associations have recently been created and/or revived. They are
integral to city communication and tax payer involvement in Bozeman City Council decisions.Public engagement is good government. Some Council members and some members of the
Community Development Board may disagree however, better decisions for the residents ofBozeman are made by civic engagement. Public comment takes time, can be fraught with
emotion and divisive discussion yet, it is the democratic way. We as a city do not need tospeed up all processes but in fact, need to slow down and get a grip on who we are and what
our growth priorities look like.The INC needs respect and city transparency. The neighborhood associations are livelier than
ever and as the city grows, new neighborhood groups are forming. Do not shut out residentsopportunity to voice opinions and be heard.
Please retain all the language in Article VII.
