Dear Government Study Commission members:
I have read the comments submitted by deputy Mayor Douglas Fischer about rescinding thelanguage you have drafted in Article VII of the draft city charter. I couldn’t disagree more.
As president of the Northeast neighborhood Association I take it as my responsibility toorganize and educate the neighborhood about issues that potentially affect the quality of lifefor residents. Along with our representative to the Inter-neighborhood council, I serve as aconduit between the neighborhood and the City Commission.
I believe it is vital that neighborhoods participate in decisions made by the city. Without theformal structure of neighborhood associations, I believe that simply wouldn’t happen.
I believe the language you have drafted is very good and should stand as drafted.
Thank you so much for all of the time and effort and heart you have put into this project. Ibelieve the result will be a better functioning city.
