Good morning,
It appears that the above lift station expansion project is about complete. Following both snowfalls in April, water
collected and flooded over the north east section of the cement drive area. In addition, it flowed onto the asphalt
walking path that is parallel to Vaughn Dr. This overflow area became icy during the cold nights and is a potential
liability concern should a pedestrian slip and fall. Next winter season any icy patches may be covered with snow
further preventing pedestrians from being aware of the ice.
In the previous 5 years that I have lived on Vaughn Dr, there was only one other instance of water overflowing onto
the path and that was in April following a very heavy snow season with a rapid melt. Before construction there was
a swale on the south side of the path that prevented water overflow.
I talked to someone in Utilities about this earlier in the week. He said he was not the responsible individual but
would pass the information along. I happened to see a Bozeman employee who said he was responsible for Building
at the lift station yesterday. He encouraged me to contact Planning as he agreed the water overflow issue was a
concern.
Thank you,
Janice
