Getting a job or starting a business, and reminders for voter survey, learning sessions, & summer film tour Making enough money to live in Montana is hard to do and can be evenharder when you have a disability, below are things to help you on yourjourney. READ IN APP I value people. Being a person is enough for you to matter. I am not here to tell anyone they need to work, work more, or work differently to be important. However, I do want to be helpful if you want to work. I know getting and keeping a job is harder with a disability because the world, including the working world, is MAY 11 built for non-disabled people. There are all sorts of employment barriers people experience. Maybe you are facing an ableist boss, have few employment opportunities in your town, jobs have unnecessary requirements that stand between your skills and success, or you are bumping up against policy decisions legislators have put in place to keep disabled people poor. All of these things can be tricky getting around, but all of them can be dealt with if you have the right information. That is why we have launched a new web page to help people looking to make more money. DRMT Work Website Maybe you are looking for a job, or maybe you want to start your own business so you can be your own boss. We have information that can help you on your individual path. We will be adding to this information over time to help answer specific questions or address specific barriers you experience. Comment below if you know of a resource we missed and should include or are looking for an answer we haven’t provided. Good luck on your job search or entrepreneurial journey, If you haven’t heard, we have a survey in which we are looking to find out about what you think are the most important issues that need to be addressed in Montana. If you haven’t done so already, please let us know what you, your friends, and your family members with disabilities face. You can find the survey and more information about the survey in a recent post from our public policy director, Christa Gabriel. Survey on issues important to MTvoters We’re Listening—Help Turn Lived The Collective Disruption is hosting online learning sessions today and next week for Montanans to find out what Montana’s government is doing to undermine section 504 regulations in the lawsuit it filed in Texas. Please register for one of these two trainings (they cover the same info so you only need to attend one) to learn what you can do in the next round of this fight to preserve disability rights.
