Dear Commissioners,
I would like to thank you for the interest you have shown in educating the public on the
harmful impacts that single use plastics, especially single use plastic bags, has on theenvironment and on our health.
Most specifically, I would like to thank Natalie Meyer for her dedication to the city in regards
to sustainability practices. Natalie has tirelessly worked to help inform the community aboutthe importance of protecting our environment and our health. Natalie 's efforts with clean up
day, Earth Day and her work on the sustainability board has had a significant impact onmaking Bozeman more aware of our surroundings in a positive way.
Recently the Sustainability Board has stepped forward to help educate the public by assisting
with a poster contest for elementary students that was focused on reminding people to bringtheir own reusable bag to the store instead of relying on plastic bags.
I also want to acknowledge Commissioner Bode for her support and presence during the Earth
Day event that recognized the selected posters from the elementary schools. Emma and Sustainability Board Chair Lahneman were present to show their support for the
students.
Again thank you. I look forward to more opportunities to collaborate with the city on theimportance of educating the community about how we can become more sustainable. As the
theme this year for Earth Day stated,"Healthy Earth, Healthy You!"
