Dear Mr Mayor and City Commission, My name is Jim Bell and I live in Bridger Canyon. When we moved here in the
early 90,s we went cross country skiing every morning in Bridger Canyon with our dogs. Because we moved from a
place with strict animal cruelty laws we were completely unaware there were animal traps placed near the ski trails
in Montana. Given the large number of new arrivals to the Bozeman area it is highly likely that many of them do not
understand it can be dangerous to recreate on public lands with their children and pets. Montana's trapping laws
are left over from the days when there were people who earned income by trapping. In today's modern world of
heavy recreational use of our trail system one persons hobby of trapping wild animals may pose a danger to other
unsuspecting people using the same trails. Please add a ban on trapping in the high use area's of the Bridger Range
and Hyalite Canyon to the 2026-27 Commission Priorities. Thank You, James Bell , Bozeman, MT.
