Subject: Public Comment on Fowler Avenue Housing Development
I am writing to share my serious concerns regarding the Fowler Housing Developmentproposed between Oak and Annie Streets. My family has called this neighborhood home for
more than ten years, and we cherish the sense of community and the wildlife that still movesthrough our open spaces. The current proposal to jam 4-5 story buildings onto a strip of land
only 150 feet wide is fundamentally flawed. It places parking lots and high-density trafficdirectly against the backyards of eighteen of my neighbors with no meaningful buffer. Routing
nearly 170 cars through narrow residential streets like Farmall and Caterpillar, which werenever designed for this volume, is a recipe for congestion and accidents. These units are not
even truly affordable for most Bozeman residents, yet the project risks a massive $2.1 millionloss in collective property value for those of us living right next to it. In January, the
Commission agreed to a consensus-based process with our HOA, and I am asking you tohonor that commitment rather than rushing through these zoning actions. Please do not ignore
the 2017 agreement to preserve our trees and irrigation ditches. I urge the city to require a fullinfrastructure and environmental study and to limit this development to a scale that respects
the people who already live here.
