Subject: Public Comment on Fowler Avenue Housing Development
I am submitting this comment to the City Commission regarding the Fowler Housing Developmentproposed between Oak and Annie Streets. As a homeowner who has cherished this neighborhood foralmost ten years, I am heartbroken by a proposal that ignores our history and the city's own priorcommitments. The city’s 2017 purchase agreement for this land promised to preserve trees and open
spaces, yet this plan crams eighty-four units into a narrow strip of land barely wide enough for aroad, let alone five-story buildings. This density is a direct assault on our neighborhood characterand our property values, which we expect to plummet by six figures for those of us bordering thisproject. The lack of parking is a disaster waiting to happen; with only a handful of spots provided,
my street will become an overflow lot for a hundred extra cars. Our residential roads like Farmalland Caterpillar were never engineered for this volume, and I fear the tax burden on current residentsto fix the infrastructure strain this will cause. I am also deeply concerned that the city is rushing thiszoning action while we are supposed to be engaged in a consensus-based process. This feels like a
breach of trust. I urge you to scale back this density to match the Bridger View model, ensuringheight limits of two stories and maintaining the green space and wildlife corridors that makeBozeman home. Please do not fast-track a project that will bring years of construction dust and noiseonly to result in a permanent safety crisis for our pedestrians.
