To whom it concerns, I was sorry to miss the city meeting last night but wanted to share my experience with the increased traffic on Flanders Mill. I have been teaching at Willson Preschool for 15 years and was on the parent board for5 years before that. We have had a front row seat to the changes to the area and Flanders Mill specifically. What was once a gravel road with a beautiful row of trees is now a thoroughfare. Our greatest concern is at lunch time; we stand on the playground and watch high schoolers drivingerratically, often trying to zip through our parking lot to avoid the line of cars at the stop sign at Durston. When the weather is nice they are hanging out of windows, doors and from the backs of trucks. I understand that "kids will be kids" but I do think it's just a matter of time before something awful happens. We of course at the preschool are especially concerned when the vehiclestear through our parking lot (we are located in Christ the King Lutheran Church). Even when the gate that the church installed is closed, cars will go around it to the north of the gate driving out on the grass. We have young, unpredictable kids that are being dropped off and picked up and it'sterrifying. Once one of our parents tried to motion to one truck to slow down and they were flipped off. It's not an awesome situation. And short of Ms. Schnee taking away thefree lunch from students at GHS I'm not sure how to instill a sense of respect and concern for others. I do appreciate you taking a look at this matter and trying to do somethingto protect everyone who lives on and uses Flanders Mill. Thanks, Meredith Johnson, co-directorWillson Preschool 406.579.0135
