City Commissioners,
I strongly support the resolution by Brit Fontenot to create an agreement between Bozeman
and Kopychyntsi, Ukraine through the Cities4Cities Initiative.
I was on the Board of the Ukraine Relief Effort (URE), a non-profit created by Bozemancitizens and MSU students, to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine, especially Kopychyntsi.
This Ukrainian city had been identified by Brit because of his work, prior to the war, oneconomic development with the current Kopychyntsi mayor, Bogdan Kelichavyi.
I met Bogdan and was very impressed with his resolve to persevere and strengthen his
economy during the war. URE representatives lived in Kopychyntsi as hospital workers andalso worked to improve their housing and living conditions. I also partnered with Jim Dolan to
transport his metal sculpture artwork as a gift to Kopychyntsi. This sculpture, Mustang, nowstands in their public square and is a tribute to the people's strength in the face of adversity and
a symbol of friendship between Bozeman and Kopychyntsi.
This agreement between the cities of Bozeman and Kopychyntsi is representative of howinternational cooperation can benefit citizens across the world.
