My husband and I are in our 70's. We raised our family in rural Montana. My husband was arural EMT for 24 years until his health prevented his further service.
We moved into Bozeman because my husband's illness necessitated the need to be closer to ahospital.
Because of our very limited income we built a small ADU on the lot of our full time residenceto rent on a part-time basis to help with ever increasing tax expenses in the future and still
have accommodation for family to visit. It has been a godsend! We don't like the idea of beingfull-time landlords and losing access to the unit for reasons of inspection and maintenance
upkeep. The business side of our STR is managed professionally by a neighbor so in a smallway it also invests in our immediate community. I clean the STR which also provides a little
extra income for us. I personally maintain outdoor yardwork as well. Please reconsiderbanning Type 2 STRentals as it will have a profound effect on our "semi-retirement" living
and financial futures.My husband and I would hate to leave a community we so love!Sincerely
