We’re Listening—Help Turn LivedExperience Into Policy A Note From our Public Policy Director, Christa Gabriel READ IN APP Hi friends, I’m reaching out because we’re doing something really important, and I’d love for you to be part of it. Together with a coalition of disability advocates and leaders called the Collective Disruption, we are working to create lasting systems change through policy and community building--we cannot do it without you. We’re gearing up for a very important election, followed by another legislative APR 17 session where decisions will be made about healthcare, housing, voting, and services that affect all of us. Too often, lawmakers hear from big lobbyists or companies but not from the people who actually live these experiences. That’s why we need your input. We’ve put together a community survey to hear about the challenges and barriers you, your friends, and your family members with disabilities face. Your experiences help ensure policymakers hear from the real experts who are the people who feel the real impacts of their decisions. The survey will also help us develop questions for candidates, so they are addressing issues that matter most to people with disabilities and so you can feel confident in who you vote for this election season. If you have a few minutes, we’d be so grateful if you filled it out. And if you know someone else who should be heard, please share it too: Take the survey here: Montana Disability Community Survey There are also other ways to get involved, like joining trainings, listening session, sharing your story, or helping shape our policy priorities. I’m happy to connect anytime: christa@dr-mt.org. If you’d like to learn more about the Collective Disruption follow us on Facebook or Instagram. Thanks for being part of this community. Together, we can make sure our voices shape policies and decisions that affect us. Warmly, Christa You’re currently a free subscriber to Life Beyond Compliance.
