To whom it may concern,
I am writing on behalf of the proposed Hanson Lane/Annie Street annexation proposal. I
am questioning the reason behind this project. From what I can see, this project is the
city's way of doing a back-door entry into getting what it wants now that there is so much
resistance to the Fowler Housing Project. Having had attended several meetings on the
Fowler Housing Project, we were told that nothing was going to be done to the west side
of Fowler Rd. once it was pushed through, that the area was going to be left as green
space. By annexing Hanson Lane you are pushing your wants above those of the people
that elected you, who pay taxes and who should have a very LOUD voice in opposition to
this proposed project.
As a long time resident of Bozeman, I have seen a lot of change over the past 30+ years,
some good, some bad. This annexation would list at the top of bad changes. What is to
be gained by allowing R-B zoning?? Why cant you, the city council and planning debts.
just leave it alone?? We have enough business space in town, we have more than
adequate apartments, duplexes, condos and townhouses. If the city is wanting to spend
money, why not provide financial assistance for people wanting to get into already
existing housing?? Why not help to raise the wages of those you are calling
"underseved"? A recent news article was commenting on the low wages of the teachers
here.....do something about that instead of spending money on projects that do no-one
any good??
In closing, I will reiterate again.....what is to be gained by this proposed annexation
except allowing the city to find a back-door way to get what it wants over the wishes of
the citizens??
Thank you, Walter & Susan Francis
