Dear Community Development Board,
I am writing to the Community Development Board to express my strong opposition tothe proposed R-B zoning for the Hanson Lane annexation, Application 25775.
As a homeowner on New Holland Drive, I witness daily how many families and children
use Annie Street to walk or bike to Emily Dickinson Elementary. Transitioning this parcelto a multi-story mixed-use zone is a textbook case of spot zoning that ignores the
established character of our single-family neighborhood. The sheer height and densityproposed are entirely incompatible with the surrounding R-1 and R-2 homes.
Furthermore, extending Annie Street as a through-way without significant traffic calming
measures creates a direct safety hazard for our kids. My children use these roads everyday, and I am deeply concerned that a high-density development here will turn our quiet
streets into a dangerous corridor for commuters. I am sure the Community DevelopmentBoard is aware of the middle school student who was struck by a car while riding his bike
just south of this area just last week!
This area lacks the transit and services to justify such intense zoning, as the nearestshopping is over a mile away. I urge you to consider R-A zoning instead, which would
fulfill the Community Plan while respecting the safety and livability of our existingcommunity.
Thank you for your careful consideration of this matter,
