I am writing to the Community Development Board and City Commission to
express my strong opposition to the proposed R-B zoning for the Hanson Laneannexation, application 25775. Having in West Winds for nearly a decade, my
family and I have grown deep roots in the West Winds and Harvest Creek area.We cherish the quiet, single-family character of our neighborhood, but this
proposal threatens that balance. Bringing five-story buildings into an area wherewe currently have single-story homes is a textbook case of spot zoning that
ignores the established development pattern of our community.
My deepest concern is for the safety of our children. My kids attend schoolnearby and we use these roads every single day. By extending Annie Street as a
through street without substantial traffic calming, the city is creating a high-speedbypass right next to an elementary school. I regularly bike and walk through this
exact area, and the thought of increased high-density traffic mixing with students
and pedestrians is frightening. Furthermore, the infrastructure costs for this levelof density shouldn't fall on the backs of existing residents. I am already worried
about the rising property taxes and assessments in Bozeman, and I do not believecurrent taxpayers should subsidize the massive infrastructure needs of a developer
looking to maximize density at our expense. Please consider R-A zoning instead, which much better reflects the neighborhood we have built over the last ten years.
