To the City Commission regarding the Fowler Housing Development, I am compelled to
speak out against this deeply flawed proposal along Fowler Avenue. As a long-timehomeowner on Farmall Street, backing right up to this parcel, I’ve watched our neighborhood
grow, and this plan for up to 84 units in 4-5 story buildings, packed onto such a narrow strip ofland, is unworkable. The idea that 168 cars, from units that aren't even truly affordable, will be
routed solely through Farmall and Caterpillar Streets is frankly irresponsible. These areresidential roads, not designed for such heavy traffic. My children use these streets daily to get
to school and for play, and this level of congestion dramatically increases the risk ofdangerous intersections and pedestrian accidents. There will be no roadway buffer between
this development and our backyards, unlike every other R-3 transition in our city, leading tosignificant noise, light pollution, and a guaranteed decrease in our property values. The
proposed design feels driven by a desire to cram as many units as possible into an unsuitedspace, ignoring the 2017 purchase agreement to 'preserve existing trees, open spaces and
irrigation ditch.' Please honor the consensus-based engagement process you agreed to with theHarvest Creek HOA and re-evaluate this proposal to truly reflect the needs and safety of
existing residents.
